I just purchased a '96 23' jet boat (manufactr-Pasco, WA) /w a 351 redline motor & Hamilton jet. I took it to Lake Washington for shake down cruze. It didn't fast 10 minutes. I had to be towed off lake as it would not restart and the kicker was not getting gas from main tank.

Local boat shop had overhauled both motors less than 6 months ago. The boat had been back out on the water 6 times since overhaul. Previous owner has spoken with boat shop. Shop is doing a diagnostic and thinks ...

I installed the oil bath bearings on my trailer last year and am a little concerned...Everytime I drop it in the water the oil turns to a green foam so does this mean i need to change the oil every trip?I love the idea of them but not confident in there execution any more...any suggestions or should i keep the oil level reading normal even though it is green now? thanks in advance cliff cash

If you have a boating question?

Post it here. I have been boating, servicing boats, selling boats (aluminum is my specialty), helping people, educating those less familiar with boats, and fishing for years. If you have a question feel free to ask. Jet drives, Inboards, outboards, trolling motors, etc. This is the forum/ discussion board that I will check on this new site. I don't charge to share my knowledge. Happy boating. Theboatman.

I'm looking into getting a new fishfinder/gps combo. The one that looks like the most promising is the humminbird 788ci with the Navionics bundle. Anyone have any other suggestions or ideas for $1000 or less?

I fish a lot and have a GPS but only use a small part of it. Would like to take a class or learn more about GPS systems in general ......like way points and how to get from origin to a destination point and so forth. Does anyone know of a class like " 101 class on GPS use " or" GPS for dummies".
Hands on for me works much better than reading the manual since it refers to terms I don't understand. Thanx fishinjones

How often do you grease your trailer bearings?

My boat doesn't see a whole lot of salt so I think I may be over-greasing my bearings. Part of my prep work for taking the boat out is greasing the bearings. I usually hit it with about 3 to 4 pumps per wheel every time I take it out which is about 2 or 3 times a week. Is this too much? Not enough? Thanks

wax / fish repellent in your opinion?

As we all know Mr. Chinookie smells in parts per billion. I wanted to throw out an open ended question for discussion on whether to wax the bottom of the hull or not wax the bottom of the hull in regards to scent repellent to salmon.

Granted, waxing the hull has it's positive attributes in a few ways;

a.) maximizing gel-coat protection

b.) maximizing your fuel usage.

So what are your thoughts on this subject? Do you think the fish can smell fresh 3M marine wax and/or Carnuba ...
