Got out today to Minter Creek its open for chum until Dec 31. Fished the evening high tide. It pushed some fish in not in great numbers but about a hundred or so. Not many fish caught but the ones that were are chrome bright. Not alot of pressure down there another 2 weeks or so and it should be loaded. FYI... You can not fish down to the deep corner hole now, apparently it is on private property and they were mad about garbage being littered there last year. If you fish here be respectful and pick up after yourself.

Do you take your boat in the bay? What is the best method to fish? Green corkies?

Be careful not to retain a Silver, BIG fines. You're only allowed to keep Chums at minter, all other fish are to be safely released.

The fish will probably start showing in real numbers with new moon around Nov-16th. bounce

I have fished the bay and have caught them all around Minter along the shoreline. Bobber/herring under a float works. Green flies bluefoxes have also worked. Just find the jumping fish.
As far as fishing the creek My most consistent method has been a 9 weight flyrod with a green fly usually. Sinking line or a sinking tip, chumcandy green patterns, wooly buggers, pistole petes its all deadly here. Right now fish the high tide tidewater until the fish show up in great numbers. The fish down here have been really bright.

Nov. 6th, took the fly rod down and caught 5 chromers on the green woolybugger. Some nice schools moving in at high tide.

Thanks for the report South Sounder. I will be out with some light rods ready for hard tugs next Saturday. Probably fish Minter on the afternoon flood.

Stuipid question time, if I have my saltwater license do I need a freshwater also to fish Minter?
Also what is the limit ?
I drove out to see what was happening and man looked like fun, lots of people fishing the creek just below the hatchery, I saw a couple fish caught just in the 10 minutes or so I was there.
I have a smoker that would love to see somemore action.

Your saltwater license will suffice. Limit of 4 chum. No retention of silvers, you can fish almost all the way up into the hatchery fish ladder. There is a rope going across the creek you can fish down from the rope. Don't cast past the rope (970$ fine). Good luck
